Athena Silversmith specializes in handmade sterling silver jewelry. Designer Claudio Lopez uses sterling silver with natural stone accents to create original designs for every occasion. Lopez melds metal and sets stones at his workshop near San Antonio, Texas.
Designer Biography
Claudio Lopez was born in Mexico City in 1953. Lopez studied architecture at the University of Mexico in Mexico City and anthropology at the National Institute of Anthropology, both in Mexico City. He studied painting with Texas painter Sylvia Orozco in 1980. In 1985, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he still resides. He studied painting and design at San Antonio College in the late 1980s. His works include abstract and neorealism paintings. Lopez began jewelry making in 2010, choosing silver and semi-precious stones as his media and palette. His philosophy is to make beautiful jewelry that will last a lifetime. He is currently enrolled in the Jewelry Department at Austin Community College.
