Diane Chavez uses traditional Catholic saint iconography to create a contemporary vision. In constant pain due Multiple Sclerosis, Diane’s abstract depictions of the Saints is an active call for help, a prayer to these extraordinary people who sacrificed to help others. Without defacing or scarring the icon, Diane’s unique and contemporary abstract Santos are understandable as reflecting the customs and beliefs of centuries of hispanic artistic tradition.
