I began painting at the early age of 6. While my father fished for trout on the AuSable River in Michigan, I painted the water, trees and sky from the river banks on old window shades. I especially loved painting portraits of children in pastels and designed and painted large sets for elementary school plays. At holidays, I painted murals on large picture windows in my family home in Saginaw, MI. I entered my first art show at age 13 and won an award for a portrait in oil painting. In high school, I won state sponsored art scholarships to take courses in art at Interlochen National Music Camp for two summers in Traverse City, Michigan.
Following high school, I was painting in oil but a few years later when I moved to Plattsburgh NY, I began to paint in watercolor to loosen my style. I found that I loved this medium equally as well as oil and that it lends itself well to painting flowers. While living in NJ, I returned to painting in oil. Now, for the first time, I am exploring pastel and mixed media. The subjects that inspire me are varied from painting the expressions of people and animals, flowers and still life. I still love paintingplein airin the Pennsylvania countryside. Bright, bold, powerful colors capture my soul and feelings for expressing my artistic visions of life.
I have studied watercolor with Charles Reid and Judi Betts; oil painting with James Dupree and Paul DuSold in Philadelphia and pastel with Teresa DeSeve, as well as many courses at local art schools where I lived in the US.
I have participated in solo and juried group shows in Michigan, Upstate New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. My paintings reside in the homes and businesses of patrons throughout the US.
