Currently Jef performs as a mime and mask theater artist at fairs and festivals throughout the South: from Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC, to the Hampton Virginia International Children's Festival, The Piccolo Spoleto Children's Festival in Charleston, SC, and the Very Special Arts Festival in Jefferson, NC. He also teaches mime, ensemble techniques, variety arts, clowning and composition through educational residencies. Jef is designated as a “Teaching Artist” by the NC Arts Council. He’s also on the Approved Artist Roster of the SC Arts Commission.
From 1976 to 1993 Jef was a member TOUCH, North Carolina's touring mime theater ensemble. From 1994 through 1997, Jef performed as the mascot for the Durham Bulls Baseball Team, Wool E. Bull..
