Wikipedia defines Steampunk as a "sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American "Wild West" in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has regained mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power." I found myself drawn first to the works of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, then Victorian era science fiction movies. I began to notice Steampunk art, and decided to abandon painting for sculpting these Steampunk figures. I know I'll be doing this for as long as I live.

Artist's Biography Jon Paul Price is originally from Matador, Texas, and currently resides in Colorado. His background includes work as a surgical practitioner and educator, and nonprofit healthcare executive director. His earlier works are paintings created in the 16th century Flemish style. Currently, his time is spent creating sculptures inspired by "retro-futuristic" Victorian era fictional steam-powered machines operated by a common post-apocalyptic figure. The sculptures are made from metal, clay, glass, leather, and wood.
