Enameling is an old and widely adopted technology, for most of its history mainly used in jewelry and decorative art. Enameling is the fusion of a special powdered glass to metals. The glass can be applied using different techniques, but all methods use heat to melt the powder. Enamel is glass which fuses onto metal at temperatures of between 780 - 830°C. It is a combination of silica and soda ash with the addition of small amounts of metal oxides to give the glass its color.
In co-authors - Fire!
In painting, the basis of the work is canvas and paint. In the artistic enamel - a copper plate and a glass powder, colored by metal oxides. Under the influence of fire, they are fused into a single surface with a complex texture, like precious and ornamental stones, and an amazing palette of colors - fresh and juicy, as if on the first day of creation. If the transparent paints are applied directly to the purified copper, the glow effect is similar to gold.
But this technology, including careful preparation of metal, grinding glass into powder, multiple firing in a muffle furnace, requires patience truly unlimited. A labor - a stubborn, and not always it is rewarded because even a second overexposure in the fire can all ruin.
