Fidchell

$23
Fidchell (in Irish; also spelled fidhcheall, fidceall, fitchneal or fithchill, and gwyddbwyll in Welsh) was an ancient Celtic board game. The name in both Irish and Welsh is a compound translating to "wood sense"; the fact that the compound is identical in both languages demonstrates that the name is of extreme antiquity, dating back to an almost magical-seeming age before these different tribes separated from the proto-Celtic peoples of ancient times which became the various different Celtic peoples of today.Fidchell and gwyddbwyll are variants of Norse Tafl games played on a 7x7 grid. Brandubh is another Tafl variant played on a 7x7 grid. They have slightly different starting layouts and rules of play. The rules for all three are included
