Wood, by nature, is going to have variations in and on the surface including grain, knots and uneven coloring and you will see them as darker spots or character markings. These are NOT defects but rather just a natural part of working with wood. As you carve into the wood, these character markings will be highlighted.
As part of our extensive woodworking shop, we work with computer generated 3D models to create this stunning piece of wood art. This CNC technology has been a great addition to our woodworking shop and allows us to produce parts with fine detail to bring our wall art to life.
WHAT IS RELIEF CARVING?
Relief carving can be described as "carving pictures in wood". The process of relief carving involves removing wood from a flat wood panel in such a way that an object appears to rise out of the wood. The figures project only slightly from the background rather than standing freely. Depending on the degree of projection, reliefs may also be classified as high or medium relief.
