The Cedar City Rotary Club announces the 21st Annual July Jamboree Cruise-in and street fair Saturday July 14th.  Over the past ten years (FY 2007 thru FY 2017) the Cedar City Rotary Club has donated over one half million dollars to a variety of local projects, charitable organizations and worldwide humanitarian projects.

The 2018 July Jamboree will begin with a Friday evening early registration at the campus of Southwest Tech, a premier technology college located in Cedar City.  Southwest Tech and the Cedar City Rotary Club partner on a variety of projects.  The Culinary Arts students prepare the meals for the Club's weekly meetings, providing the students with “real world” experience and Rotarians with great food.   The Cedar City Rotary Club provides scholarship funds to Southwest Tech students that need financial assistance while earning a skilled certificate.

At 8:00 am on Saturday, July 14th, registration will continue on the Southwest Tech patio and a breakfast buffet will be provided for the car participants.  The participants will be invited to participate in the annual Rod Run.

At noon, July 14th, Main Street will be closed so that approximately 100 vendors can begin setting up their booths on the east side of Main Street.  At 2:45 pm reserved priority parking car entrants will begin to line up on 200 North between 100 West and Main Street.  Non-reserved priority car entrants will line up on Main Street in front of the State Bank of Southern Utah.

At 4:00 pm, July 14th, the event will officially begin.  Live bands will perform on the stage in the parking lot between Charlie's BBQ and Hong Kong Buffet.  A food court is in the same area, which includes a Beer Garden offering menu items prepared by Southwest Tech Culinary Arts students.

The 2017 July Jamboree attracted an estimated 14,000 to 15,000 spectators and 240 car participants. 46 of the 240 car participants are from outside Utah and 12 of the Utah residents live in communities more than 120 miles from Cedar City.

Large crowds are expected for the 2018 event.   A comprehensive radio, billboard and social media campaign targets classic car enthusiasts in southern Utah, Las Vegas and northern Arizona areas, as well as the general public.

July Jamboree is a family friendly, automotive oriented street festival that showcases the many amenities that Cedar City and Iron County have to offer. The objective of the event is to raise as much money as possible, which will be distributed to a wide range of community, charitable and humanitarian projects.

A partial list of benefactors from this event includes:  Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, Boys State, Girls State, Canyon Creek Women's Shelter, Iron County Care & Share, Cedar City Hospital, SUU scholarships for Iron County Students, Rotary Centennial Veterans Park, Happy Factory, Southwest Livestock Show, SUU Athletics, Southwest Technology College, Tri-County Dictionary Project and many others.  Current humanitarian projects include:  stoves for the Mayan peoples in Guatemala; and, assisting with the building of Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Kenya.

By showcasing the amenities of the region such as the Rotary Centennial Veterans Park, Iron Town State Park and the Homestead Frontier State Park, the event has the potential for off-season or weekday promotion of Iron County.  As an example, in 2015 registration was set up at the Rotary Centennial Veterans Park and many out-of-the-area participants made favorable comments about the park and their plans to come back with other people to see the park.

Most of the funds raised by this event come from sponsorships provided by a wide range of community partners.  Partners of previous events included many Cedar City and Southern Utah businesses:  Tink's Superior Auto Parts, Boulevard Home Furnishings, Cedar City Motor Company, Grifols, La Quinta Inn and Suites, Southern Utah University, Jenkins Oil-Rally Stop, Tri-State Motors, Mikes Tavern, Mountain America Credit Union, Centro Pizza, Town and Country Best Western Motel, Charlie's BBQ, Raindance Car Wash and many others.  Also, SUU Athletics provides much of the manpower to help set up the event.

The Cedar City Rotary Club is excited for the 2018 July Jamboree Car Show and invite all to attend and experience Cedar City and this wonderful event!!

This event is FREE to the public.
