The Black Sundays where born in Bakersfield, October, 2011.
Brent 'Chaz ' Brown (The Chaz Brown Band) started this project in 2008 when he locked himself in a cabin on a mountain for 6 months and wrote a bunch of songs. The songwriting never stopped and the list grew longer. The songs have been presented in various shapes and forms, but it wasn't until June of 2011 when Brent hooked up with drummer Ryan Culberson (The Bird Channel, The Crooked Folk) that the tunes finally found their place.
After playing a set at Bakotopia's open mic night @ fishlips in Bakersfield California, Brent and Ryan recruited bass player Scott Tessandori (Seed). When Scott added much needed thump and smooth vocal harmonies, a new sound was born.
A fresh name for a fresh sound was needed. The name 'The Black Sundays' represents hard times; getting through fresh and new.
The fourth and final member to add his soaring spin on the tunes is Brock Wiggins (The Bird Channel, Near Miss Mallet) on lead guitar...dig on that!
The Black Sundays will be doing a rock n roll assault on Bakersfield and surrounding areas as well as recording a debut e.p. in the coming months, so stay tuned.
