My name is Allison Rau and I am a sculptural embroidery artist who specializes in botanical leaf art.
My technique is unique — I use wool and silk threads to stitch onto water soluble fabric. After thousands of interlocking stitches, the stabilizing fabric is dissolved away and what is left is a beautiful leaf.
I take these leaves and turn them into wearable accessories. Examples include geranium leaf earrings, fall leaf statement pendants, vine necklaces, maple leaf lapel pins.
Each piece comes in a stamped linen bag and placed in a special gift box. I include a gift tag infused with wildflower seeds…plant it and it will grow.
My work is crewel embroidery, made with crewel wool, and absolutely 100% magic.
