ARTIST'S STATEMENT

As a Civil Engineer, I believe in precise lines and wanted to create an art form using wood.  After researching different possibilities, I started creating cutting boards in my basement workshop at my home.

I wanted to create beautiful cutting boards that were not only practical but contained the “wow factor”!  The feedback I get about the boards is very encouraging.

My mother was an artist and in her memory I created the artist's paint palette cutting board.  As a child with my sisters, we would go on picnics and use a picnic basket.  The basket weave cutting board is designed as a result of that childhood memory.  While developing cutting board designs, I saw paintings by the Dutch painter Mondrian.  My Mondrian board is modeled after the artist and recognized as such by the general public.   It has been purchased to hang on the wall as art.  My wife's love of bright colors was the reason I designed the multi-colored striped cutting board.

I continue to experiment with designs and strive to please the artistic “eye” as well as being practical at the same time.
