about - Donna Haney Art Studio, Bethlehem, PA

Art has always been an important part of my life, knowing since childhood that being an artist and creating art would be my living. Having encouragement from family and friends provided the support to  pursue my interest. Presently  my time is devoted to both painting landscapes, portraits, and drawing cartoon portraits from life at social events such as festivals, fairs, and parties.

I also do realistic portrait sittings by appointment in my studio, in oil, pastel, and charcoal.  Sometimes photos can be used when the subject is not available.
Painting au plein aire landscapes has been a passion of mine for many years.  The beauty of the natural landscape, the way the light illuminates the fields, streams  and forests, the colors of the seasons, the atmosphere and spirit of a place, are my inspiration.  My paintings are generally completed on location, whether it takes 1 or more visits.  I feel it's important to capture the light, color, shapes, and atmosphere with the vision that being present supports.

In 2014 I began painting for live events with a wedding reception commission, followed by others.  The paintings are done live at the wedding reception and then finished in the studio using photos and sketches.   If you will be having a wedding reception and interested in a special painting or drawings,  please contact me at ( cell ) 484 809-2843.

Murial Corcoran was my first art teacher at age 6  until age 15.  Later, I  attended  painting workshops with insructors such as Bob Rohm, Kenn Backhaus, T.M. Nicholas, Robert Doney, and Tim Weaver; studied painting and drawing at the Pa. Academy of the Fine Arts, The Baum School Of Art, and Advanced Oil Painting and Art History at the Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pa.
