From the pages of Mother Goose and other beloved children’s tales comes the 18th Annual GIANT Pumpkin Festival of Elk Grove. Elk Grove’s largest family festival will take place October 6-7, from 10 am to 5 pm at Elk Grove Regional Park (9950 Elk Grove-Florin Rd.)
Returning favorites with a fairy tale spin include the GIANT pumpkin weigh-off competition (Saturday), Scairy Tales scarecrow contest, and Pumpkin Regatta (Sunday). Two stages of family entertainment, pumpkin and harvest foods, and peddlers of all types of magical merchandise abound.
Hosted by the Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) Parks and Recreation the Festival attracted an estimated 40,000 guests over two days in 2011. The Festival has received numerous industry awards and has appeared in Martha Stewart Living and on The Weather Channel for its quirky celebration of pumpkin.
