Saint Augustine, Florida
The Gamble Rogers Music Festival in St. Augustine, Florida celebrates the life and legacy of Gamble Rogers, the Florida Troubadour. Florida lost one of its greatest folk singers on October 10, 1991, when Gamble gave up his own life while trying to save a drowning man in Flagler Beach. The Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area and the Gamble Rogers Middle School were named in his honor. To learn more about Gamble, a biography: “Gamble Rogers, a Troubadour's Life” has recently been released and is available on Amazon and in many bookstores around Florida. Although Gamble may be gone, his spirit and wisdom live on in his music, in his stories, and most of all, through the Gamble Rogers Music Festival friends and family. A three-day music festival is held in St. Augustine the first weekend each May, featuring dozens of national, regional, and local musicians and storytellers on several stages. In addition, the Gamble Rogers Music Festival Concert Series is the ongoing community music event which helps to raise funds for the music festival and youth music programs for school aged children.
The Gamble Rogers Folk Festival Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 non-charitable organization and all proceeds raised go towards creating community music events.
