Hello I am Jane Marie Sullivan.
All of the work I make under the name Every Kind of Art. The University of Toledo Ohio is where I am studying. This fall I will go back to school to finish the 30 credits for my BFA in 2D fine drawing with a minor in art history.
The 100 credits I have completed covered the basic areas of study. There were a few areas that sent me off on other areas of study. The drawing anatomy class still has me looking at what is under the skin. When I learned printmaking the mono type process took my art to a whole other level of amazing. The history classes I have taken hold great interest for me.
Currently I am making jewelry out of natural stones, fossils and beach glass. Living on Lake Erie by Toledo means the beaches have beach glass of all kinds. The lake also has many fossils to choose from. When I walk the beaches the all the things rolling around in the waves tell me things. Things such as what used to live in the waves, what lives there now. This year was also a banner year for finding true arrow heads which I also make pendents out of. The beach glass I find I also use to make beautiful pieces out of for candles or vases.
Making art out of left overs holds great fascination for me.
Teaching art in long term facilities also has brought me great joy. The last two years I have worked in two different facilities. The process is slow learning the needs of each person. In the end they paint with acrylic paint on a 11x14 canvas beautifully and are very proud. Giving them a few happy minutes is great.
In the future I am looking forward to finishing my degree, making a future for my art.
