The universe is having its way with me
Providing nips & tucks I swear I never thought I'd need
My sign outside says, “Closed for maintenance”
But when we're through with her you won't believe the difference--

Sometimes we miss life's lessons 'til they start to roar
Or come delivered by a friendly, cosmic two-by-four
I always prayed that I could be exempt
“Help me grow, but let's just keep things oh-so-pleasant
