I've had a passion for fish since my father first took me trout fishing at the age of 5. I discovered Gyotaku (literally real "fish rubbing") about 25 years ago and have turned my passion for it into a business, offering fine Gyotaku original fish art and archival prints to my clients. Great memories are captured in these prints and each has its own story.
I use oil-based etching inks, sumo inks, and acrylic paints depending on the type of fish and whether the work is being done in the field or in my studio. These prints are done on several types of mulberry ("rice" paper) from Nepal, Thailand, China and Japan with dyed rice paper backgrounds. Prints are wet-mounted on stretched canvas and sealed with clear, archival coatings.
There is something strikingly beautiful and unique about a Gyotaku piece, which will add to the peaceful atmosphere of any home or business.
Hope you enjoy!
