My company name is Nana Marion's 18" Doll Boutique. I began using a sewing machine making my own clothes in second grade. Was making doll clothes by hand before that. Even made my wedding gown. That was a quick 60 years ago so have plenty experience sewing as well as knitting and crochet.
When my two grand daughters were old enough we began our love affair with the American Girl doll, Gotz Little sisters and various less expensive dolls. I fell in love with sewing for these dolls. Big enough to really sew for using same techniques as childrens clothing. Just a bit smaller. Girls were always looking for something new and counted on their Christmas boxes with wardrobes inside. We had a toy box of clothes downstairs and a few drawers full in the dining room. Can never have too many clothes or matching outfits on hand to wear.
I make doll clothes for normal to rough doll usage. This means many seams are surged, hems are stitched by machine and all in all the construction is very sturdy. Little hands can tug and pull hard. My clothes are made for them as well as the collector. My goal is to spread happiness and joy with my clothing for some very special
people and dolls.
It's my creative outlet and I really enjoy sewing. Now that my girls are teenagers, they are into other things. High school and motherhood (a boy). I still like sewing for the dolls and have decided to sell them as many have told me I should for years. Knitting a sweater for one is my idea of relaxation. Creating a new dress is just fun !!
