NAWA fosters public awareness of, and interest in, works of art with emphasis on fine art created by women and encourages the art work of new emerging artists.
The Florida Chapter was founded in 1995. The Florida Chapter extends the mission of the National Association by providing highly visible Florida venues, designing art education opportunities for its members and promoting art education to Florida communities. NAWA Florida Chapter is a 501C3 not-for- profit tax-exempt organization. The Chapter has its own roster of officers and committee chairs. The chapter is headquartered in Florida. The quarterly newsletter, web page and face book pages provide an important connective link to all members. The Florida Chapter has over 100 members and adds new members each year.
To become a member of the Florida Chapter, an artist first applies for membership in NAWA, Inc. Artistic standards are maintained through a juried process. When an artist is accepted into the National Association, she may chose to join the Florida Chapter.
NAWA, Florida Chapter carries out an active schedule of regional exhibitions of its members' works as well as lectures, seminars, art demonstrations, and other educational forums. Most of the Chapter's activities occur during the seasonal period from November to May.
The chapter sponsors an annual scholarship program for talented and needy art students toward the college of their choice. Student art work is juried and awards granted, and students are invited to display their art work with our members at an exhibition open to the public.
