We are a family owned and operated business.

Though our roots originated in Mississippi, we were raised in the culture and geographical location of Louisiana. With this came a rich and truly amazing way of life for all of us.

Most know that food, is the number one attraction when it comes to living in and loving Louisiana. We agree and have enjoyed that fact for many, many years!

Gumbo is not a hard Louisiana dish, but it can be an extremely long and challenging process, to get it just right. By starting with what we call a Roux, (a mixture of equal parts oil and flour). You must very slowly brown the flour to produce a beautifully dark and rich one of a kind flavor that describes what a real Gumbo is. If left unattended, this precious base, can burn and you will have to start completely over!
Any Louisiana cook, has experienced this tragedy. It is not a good feeling.

We have created a Wonderful and completely seasoned, fail-proof, gumbo mix, for any cook to fix and serve to anyone, with the assurance of a perfect pot of gumbo every single time!

Just a bit of history.

I started making this gumbo for my family when my children were young. Times were tough and a pot of gumbo would allow my family to eat until they were completely full! We rarely had left overs, and if there were any, it would be gone by the next day.

As my children got older and began leaving home, they missed their Mommas gumbo! They encouraged me to make a dry mix, so that they or their spouses could cook, that would taste just like Mommas. So I got to work. It took quite a bit of time, but I got it done, and they were very happy about it!

The name Sisters Louisiana Gumbo Mix is a bit misleading to most, as they assume it represents myself and at least one sister. The truth is, the name was a tribute of sorts, for my Daddy. He came from a very large family and had 5 sisters. Instead of calling them by name, he simply called each of them sister.

We noticed that he did this with most females, even my sister and myself. We just got used to being called Sister, when he addressed us. With my name being Melessia, and my little sister being named Marlene, half the time he would call for Marlisa. So you can see why "Sister" just worked better for him.

My daddy passed away long before I started making this Mix, but I know he would be proud. So the name is a small tribute to his memory.

We have just started selling at local festivals and events during the last year. We absolutely love it!
The work is hard, but we have the best time giving out samples and meeting so many amazing folks! What fun!

If you haven't tried our product, please do so, ASAP! You will love it! God knows that we sure do!

Thank you, for taking the time to learn a bit about us, and our product.
