The Historic Town of Genoa is Nevada's First Settlement, founded in 1851. The history of the small, unincorporated Nevada town perched at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Carson Range, is preserved in the Genoa Courthouse Museum and the Mormon Station Park Museum.
For visitors to our area, Genoa is home to several annual community-supporting events.
The largest event is the Genoa Candy Dance Faire held on the last full weekend of September. Another large community event is the Genoa Cowboy Festival held at the end of April/first of May. These two events help the town support community infrastructure, such as the Historic Genoa Town Hall, Genoa Community Church and the newest community gathering spot, the Genoa Town Park, home to the free summer monthly concert series, Concert On The Green and several other small events for town residents and local visitors.
Visit Genoa during one of our events and explore the history of our little town located just an hour south of Reno and 25 minutes east of Lake Tahoe in the beautiful Carson Valley.
