Truth & I is a mesmerizing indie-folk duo based in New York. The married couple -- Alethea (whose name in Greek means 'Truth') and Jordan Wilhelm ('I') -- are known for their strong vocal lines, tight harmonies, and personal lyrics. They also accompany themselves on banjo, guitar, piano, kazoo, tambourine and various other percussion instruments. Although they grew up an hour from each other in Northeast Ohio, they didn't meet until attending college in Nyack, NY, while pursuing Vocal Performance majors. When they began collaborating in 2011, they wrote a flood of material. In 2014, they were married.
Continuing pursuit of classical training, they received their M.A.s in Vocal Performance in 2017 from Montclair State University. The Wilhelms have two recorded releases; full-length album, Floorboards (2013) and the single release, Passing the Time (2019). The unique style of Truth & I is a reflection of this duo's wide range of musical influences and interests, including folk, jazz, classical, bossa nova and classic rock. This blend of musical inspiration makes their music delightfully unpredictable and unconventional, yet comfortably familiar.
