Hello and thank you for visiting us at Unique Pic Creations. I'm James, owner and creative designer here at UPC. I'd like to share my story of how Unique Pic Creations came to be. You see, my wife and I are both registered nurses. We've been working in the healthcare industry for nearly 20 years. As a teenager, I had always been told that I was pretty creative. After I began my career as an RN, I started putting what I could do to good use. In order to help my patients cope with their emotional hospital experiences, I'd make craft gifts for my patients with the hope of cheering them up. Seeing those smiles wash over the faces of my patients was very rewarding and made for truly priceless moments.
Last year, on March 7, 2018, I was critically injured in an accident which left me paralyzed from the shoulders down. I was devastated. In an instant, my life was changed. I, suddenly, became that patient who was really in great need of a smile. I thought I'd lost everything. However, thanks to the overwhelmingly loving support of my wife, family, and friends, I have begun moving forward down the path to recovery. A major part of my journey toward recovery was regaining my ability to continue creating art. With God's blessing, I was introduced to the wonderful staff at Casa Colina Rehab Hospital. Through my intervention with Casa's technology department, I learned how use a specialized mouth control mouse that allows me to control my computer .
