I regret to say that I had never heard of this band until this past weekend at the Oak Barrel Blues Festival. You guys STOLE THE SHOW! Best live band by far that I have heard in a long time. Love your energy, fun, interaction with your audience and musical talent. I can't wait to have the opportunity to see Gas House Gorillas again!

Bob Kendall Washington DC Quote · Sep 15 2014 10:48 AM

Saw you guys open for one of my favorite bands, The Blasters, last night at Gypsy Sally's and now you are another one of my favorite bands. Y'all rocked the house. Come back soon.

Never heard of you. Went to show at small bar you were opening for Blasters. Always like the Blasters but you kicked ****. Thanks for a great show. Will pass the word. Hope to catch you again. Keep rockin.

Once in a while I am lucky enough to find a real band that knows how to rock. Tonight was one of those nights. Having suffered through what passes for music on mainstream radio for years these guys restored my faith that there are still great music and bands even in 2014. Guys thank you for a great show. See you next time.

"They are the only band in the 21 years of the festival that has ever gotten a standing ovation as the opener. These guys are fantastic!" Jack “Mad Dog” Mills/ Jay Goldberg (Stage Managers) – Budweiser Blues Festival (Peoria, IL)

"The Gas House Gorillas electrified our festival! Not only top notch musicians, these guys are incredible performers. Our attendees are already asking when they'll be back. Do not miss out on this one of a kind show!" Stony Stonerock - Festival Chair & Entertainment Director @ Marquette Area Blues Festival

"Just as I predicted, the boys came to play and completely turned the joint inside out! People are still talking them about 2 months later. It's like the radioactive fallout after a nuclear explosion!" Michael Jankovec – President @ Boundary Waters Blues Festival (Ely, MN)

"If Cab Calloway, Freddy Mercury, Illinois Jacquet and Johnny Ramone started a garage band, it might sound something like the Gas House Gorillas." Collin Roche - The Morning Call

“Just listened to ‘Punk Americana’, and totally dug it! On their new CD, the Gas House Gorillas have brought their own stamp to the roots genre, weaving together an amazingly broad blend of styles and vibes, all backed by an insane amount of energy and enthusiasm. In the first few songs alone, I heard elements of swing, rockabilly, classic R&B, country, lounge, punk and ska. Somehow, they manage to weave it all together so that the sound remains their own. Great job!” Daniel Glass - Drummer for Brian Setzer Orchestra

“...This band recalls the Blasters in its ability to combine loosely related genres (blues, rockabilly, swing) into a red-hot, hard-drinking sound all its own.” Phil Freeman - Cleveland Scene

About James Crouch: The consummate musician, James Crouch has been playing his guitar and delighting audience around the world for over four decades. Jame's guitar travels throughout the spectrum of music, from classic rock and roll to blistering blues. Jame's sound draws from a pallet mixed from the sounds of his influences, a diverse list of players the likes of Eric Clapton. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lonnie Mack, Johnny Winter and Jeff Beck, to name a few. But James on stage can most notably be compared to the late great Roy Buchanan. James love for Classic and Hard Rock melts soulfully into his blues inspired playing, adding an aggressive edge to his melodic and spot on solos.

A musicians musician, in addition to his love for the blues, James' overall repertoire is rather diversified and includes folk, flamenco, metal, alternative and progressive sounds, all of which have been recorded in studio and performed before live audiences. James has performed with The Tokens, The Dovells, The Shirelles, and Bobby Lewis. As a solo performer, James has shared the stage with Eddie Money, Marshall Tucker, Blue Oyster Cult, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Jimmy Thackery, The Nighthawks, Brian Howe - former singer for Bad Company, Bo Diddley, Molly Hatchet, Rick Derringer, Tommy Tutone, et al.

About John D'Amato: Since the release of his 2010 debut CD “Ain’t No Big Deal”, John D’Amato’s guitar prowess and soulful vocals, has landed him on stage with many notable musicians: B.B. King, Billy Cox, Eric Gales and Joe Louis Walker, who was so impressed with John’s abilities he asked John to perform with him on his new Alligator Records Release “HellFire”, produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer, Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy and B.B. King).

John is one of the new generation of hard rockin’ blues men with elements of the styles of music that have influenced John: T Bone Walker, Buddy Guy, Joe Louis Walker, B.B. King, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and a host of other genres of music. John has an ability to bring a song to the next level with his incendiary yet tasteful solos combined with his unique vocal style make his music a cut above the rest.

John’s debut CD “Ain’t No Big Deal” climbed to #9 on the “Airplay Direct Blues Charts” in November of 2011, and to #45 on the “Roots Music Report National Blues Charts” within three weeks of its release. “Real Blues Magazine” added it to its list of “The Top 100 Blues CDs” and “Ain’t No Big Deal” continues to receive extensive airplay worldwide. Ian McHugh of “Blues Is The Truth” on UKJazzRadio has described John’s music as “Spectacularly Frenetic”. Michael Molenda of “Guitar Player Magazine” said “He [John] just keeps spewing out wilder and wilder phrases until you succumb to giddy delight or vertigo”. Mark Tucker of F.A.M.E. Magazine stated “[John’s music is] inventive and original yet true to the genre”. All these quotes add up to one thing.
