new food vendor in need of advice
We are a new bbq and catering business that would like to get into some of these festivals. It's been difficult getting in to them being new. We are looking for advice on how to get started, and how to be able to set up concessions in front of a store location.

Re: new food vendor in need of advice
well mose of these events they already have their bbq vendor from previuos years and usualy their fee is too high for such a (bbq) vendor, there are a lot bbq contest that you can get in to one then from there you learn more about other events. as far as store location it is risky , but you can go to the locations and talk to the owners of teh property ask for their permision ans sign agreement . well thats all i know , hopefuly helped you. good luck.

So far we haven't had any luck with either festivals or setting up in front of local businesses. I know it's possible because there's a guy that sets up and sells hot dogs all over town. We are going to utilize our local chamber of commerce and see if that gets us anywhere.

Re: new food vendor in need of advice
bubbac, I too am newer to the festival world and the best advice I can give is to be patient and persistent. Some of the private businesses I have had luck with are Tractor Supply Co., Big Lots, and small strip malls. Contact the mall owner or management company and offer to set up on a trial basis. I also get the individual shop managers to agree as I will be a draw for them. I got a supply or their coupons and gave them to all my customers. Always approach them with a benefit they will see by having you there. I almost decided to throw in the towel after my first 30 days, but all of a sudden, it turned and now I get a new booking almost every day!

Hi All, I'm new to this also! I have my trailer ready to go, but haven't gotten my Inspection yet. I like your reply ftb01 ,I think that is very good advise which I will be putting to use. I live in Toledo Ohio and I know that it will be rough starting here. It's not as vendor friendly as some cities.
Today I would like to put this Question out to the Community and am hoping for quick responses! And as we all know, none of Us just starting out have oodles of money to be spent on start up,so with that in mind, here goes.

Looking for someone to do a to scale drawing of my food trailer for the Health Dept, here in Toledo Ohio. Anyone here or close by that has had to do it, or has had someone do it ,Please Reply ASAP. I need to get this done and sent in before I can get an Inspection! Thanks Loads! Moon's Chuckwagon,LLC,Toledo Ohio

Have a Blessed Day Everyone! Cook on!
