This Raku Pot stands 5" tall and is 5 1/2" wide. Raku is a process of firing a piece in a kiln to red hot (1800 degrees F) and then plunging the piece into a container with combustibles. This process turns unglazed portions of the piece black, and brings out interesting textures and colors in the glazes. This pot features a shiny copper glaze touched with metallic and turquoise elements, that contrasts with the matte black unglazed parts of the pot, and the white crackle glaze on the opposite side of the pot. The pot was decorated with tape and wax before glazing to achieve the matte black areas. A decorative piece that can hold more decorative items or be featured on its own.
