Whimsical piece of whale folk art for your coastal decor. This nicely finished wooden rustic Whale-in-a-Box was inspired by old Nantucket Whaling Trade or Pub Signs.
This whale is a perfect addition to any beach, coastal or nautical-themed decorated home, it WILL add character, charm, and sure personality. This unusual piece makes a perfect gift for house warmings, birthdays, or any occasion for that special someone.
The whale is wood cut with the grain to shape, sanded, painted, and sealed with finishing wax to give it an overall distressed finish. The whale’s fins are cut from a repurposed small dry goods barrel stave. The whale is then attached to the background with screws, and ultimately secured to its frame. I collected the frame from either a Thrift Shop, Goodwill, Flea Market, or a second-hand store; then refurbished it as needed.
Overall, the frame measures 16 ½ inches by 11 ½inches; while the whale itself is 12 ½ inches long, by five ½ inches high.
