Ian discovered carving and sculpting while recovering from serious cancer. He started sculpting in 2005.
He chooses discarded wood for the shape and grain. He rough cuts the wood to size, then uses many tools, including hand and power, to achieve the vision he sees.
When he achieves the wldlife replica he envisions, the piece is then finely hand finished, using up to 400 grit sand paper then many coats of polyurethane. The sculpture is then mounted on oyster rock, or on driftwood to be hung.
Ian has participated in many Fine Art shows on the East Coast, and has many ribbons for his work.
