My Inspiration

posted July 5, 2016
I have been drawing and painting since I was a child.  I have always been happiest when I was creating.   I learned how to draw from my father and how to paint from my uncle, when I was six years old.   My lessons with my uncle continued, intermittently, well into my adult years.

I have a passion for children and for flowers.  I enjoy walking in parks and around the neighborhood for inspiration.  I also enjoy walking on the beach, all year round, as I am drawn by the ocean and the power of its waves.  I have done several paintings of flowers and children, and have recently begun painting animals.  On my way from church one day, I observed two chipmunks on a wild chase around bushes.  I came home and told my four year old niece about it and she wanted to know their names.  I did some research on why these chipmunks might be chasing and tackling each other, as if engaged in a game of tag.  I found out that this was not playtime for them, but a war during mating season!  They were males!

I paint what I see as the beauty of my subjects which reflects the beauty of our creator.  I feel it very strongly in the walks along the ocean.  Having grown up in Newport, Rhode Isand, I learned to appreciate and enjoy living near the water.

I hope you enjoy may art and if you have questions, contact me.
