North&South unite in unique sterling silver jewelry endeavor

posted July 15, 2013   category » Jewelry with heart
Along time ago in a war fought on American soil brother was pitted against brother, friend against friend and the colors of grey and blue clashed... and I'm not talking about wardrobes!Today in 2013 brothers, friends and the colors blue and grey blend together and live under the colors of red white and blue.Father and daughter, north and south have created together a unique, handcrafted sterling silver company known as North and South Silverworks. This unique sterling silver jewelry is designed and handcrafted by my father John Bigelow. It was due to his love of creativity that I came to be a part of his jewelry success.
In my twenties I worked side by side with him in a shop in Ridgefield Connecticut called Five Gold Rings putting my own creative spin on designing. But let me take you back even before that...the business was started in a little tiny shed at the side of a river in Georgetown, Connecticut. Full bearded, with folk music softly coming from his record player, often singing along with the music, you would find John hammering away on his anvil flattening out the silver then soldering it together making beautiful handcrafted sterling silver pieces. There was nothing like it anywhere . He was one of a kind as was his jewelry. Quickly outgrowing the little shed he moved to "the barn" on route 7 Ridgefield, Connecticut. featuring local pottery and other crafts from artisans
around the state. but the focal point was the amazing brilliance of his creativity with stones from all over the world incredibly beautiful picture jasper
