Reiki is a natural therapy that was developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan, in the last century. It is thought though to have its roots in Tibetan culture going back thousands years.
It is a gentle therapy, which takes a holistic approach in that it treats the whole person, emotional, physical and spiritual. Reiki (meaning universal life-force / energy) is channeled through the hands of the Reiki practitioner and goes to where it is most needed in the body; working to rebalance it.
Reiki sessions can be conducted alongside conventional western treatments / medicine. It is non-diagnostic and non-invasive.
As this life energy flows normally through the body, nourishing and cleansing our organs and cells, it brings us good health and wellbeing. When the flow is disrupted or diminished to certain areas of the body by stress, mental/emotional problems or trauma in our lives, our body’s energy becomes unbalanced and we can experience health problems. Reiki, by bringing in renewing life force energy, brings our body’s energy back into balance and harmony, allowing the body to heal itself.
