A Broken Treasure, Carmel, CA

Member Since: June 24, 2017
Carmel, California
Found on the beaches of California. Sea glass, stones, and pottery pieces made into unique jewelry. Each piece is found by hand on the beaches all over California, they are then either wire wrapped or drilled, and accompanied by a hand beaded necklace or bracelet. The color and shape of these pieces are not modified.

A broken treasure represents more than just a piece of jewelry. When you see a piece of sea glass or pottery, you see a broken piece of glass, or a broken piece of a pot. Like a person who has had a hard time in their life, or has had a disease or cancer. They may be broken, fragile or shattered, but at the same time they are unique and are perfect. When I think about these pieces, I think about the path that they go through the tumbling, beating and time they spend in the ocean, but then I look at the perfect shape, rounded edges and integrity of the piece. If a piece like this can endure the ocean, then so can we.

The average time for a piece of glass to become sea glass is 7-10 years.
