Why Use Handcrafted Soap?

posted May 17, 2013   category » Dry Skin
Most commercial soaps contain harsh chemicals, detergents, and have all or most of the natural glycerin removed from them and sold to a variety of other industries. Without natural glycerin many people experience dry, tight, or itchy skin.  This can be especially harsh on those with sensitive skin or skin conditions. Natural handcrafted soap contains all the natural glycerin created during the saponification process along with all the natural benefits of the oils used.

Our handcrafted soap is made using the “cold-process” method. During this “cold-process” method the fats and oils used in the soap is mixed with a controlled amount of alkali (sodium hydroxide and water, also known as lye) at controlled temperatures. This starts the saponification process changing the molecular structure of our mixture, creating natural glycerin, and leading it on the way to being soap. Once our mixture meets a thin trace essential oils, fragrance oils, herbs or any other additives are mixed in. The mixture is then poured into molds, insulated at a controlled temperature and approximately 24 hours later removed from the mold and set to cure for a few weeks. No lye remains in the final product and the end result is a nice firm bar of soap rich with natural glycerin, fats, and oils ready for your use.  The Soap Spot by Aisling lists ingredients for each handcrafted soap so you know exactly what you are putting on your skin and can be confident it is truly pure soap and not a detergent or synthetic chemicals.

Our soaps contain no genetically modified oils (GMO) and are vegan except for those containing goat milk. You will discover with us selections of soaps made with Organic Ingredients, Natural with Scent, and Unscented.  We are pleased to be your reliable resource and your spot for quality handcrafted soap!

Selecting a Soap for Dry Itchy Skin

posted May 17, 2013   category » Dry Skin

Many people experience the uncomfortable frustrating feeling of dry and itchy skin throughout the year.  If you are currently using a commercial soap, the soap most likely contains harsh chemicals and detergents, has all or most of the natural glycerin removed, and contains unnatural preservatives.  Your skin does not react well to harshness and can easily be restored by selecting the right handcrafted soap for your skin type.  Our handcrafted soap contains no genetically modified oils, retains all the natural glycerin created during the saponification process, and are made with quality and all natural ingredients (oils, fats, essential oils, herbs, other additives).

The ingredients in our handcrafted soap that add the highest moisturizing benefit are Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, and Goat Milk.  These oils also have other benefits for your skin which you can read about on our website www.thesoapspot.com under Our Ingredients .  Most of our quality soaps contain Coconut and Olive Oil, however the amount of these oils used in each soap differs.  To help you find a soap with the highest concentration of these ingredients we have narrowed our recommendation down to the following quality handcrafted soaps:  Unscented Goat Milk, Unscented Oatmeal, and Shea Butter.

These soaps are so gentle and moisturizing for your skin they can be used as a body soap and a facial soap.  After just a few uses of these soaps you will see and feel the difference in your skin.  Order your bars today and remember we offer Free Shipping with all purchases $30 and over.  Enjoy the experience of soft, smooth, moisturized skin!
