I'm a retired physician who loves breaking glass. After taking a glass fusion class with the glass artist Yvonne Yaar in 2011, I immediately feel in love with the craft. The colors and textures of glass are fascinating and excite my creativity. During the fusion process, glass seems to find it's own path or way to a new form. The artist just provides basic structure. Each piece is unique with a character of its own.
I started making ikebana vases after my husband purchased a ceramic one. I was determined to make one by fusing glass. I create the tops and look for interesting small glass bowls for the base. I then epoxy kenzan pens of various size to the base depending on the overall size.
I've since ventured into other fused glass art forms (jewelry, wall/table art, bowls and serving dishes) and now have my own kiln so the excitement continues.
