Allys Quilting & Fine Arts, Litchfield Park, AZ
I have been creating items to use and wear since I was about 8 years old. I learned to sew from my mother, I learned to knit, crochet and embroider from my maternal grandmother, and I learned to quilt from my paternal great-grandmother. So as you can obviously see I come from a family that has many creative talents and abilities. Although I do most of the work involved with creating our treasures, my wife is instrumental in helping me with design, color and ideas for new items.
My wife and I have been married for over 46 years, have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren. We love spending time with all of them as time allows as only our daughter and her 2 children live very near to us. Our sons live in different states and we travel to see them as often as we can.
I also grew up in a musical family and I am an accomplished Organist and Pianist. I am currently working on my Doctoral pieces for my Doctorate in Organ performance.
I have to say that as some people dread the idea of getting older it has been a blessing for me as now I am able to do and enjoy the things that I wished I could have done in my younger years, but put making a good income to support a family ahead of my own passions. But as I tell everyone about life and what it brings to us, everything is a blessing and all is as it is supposed to be.
