Amu.se Emporium of Loveliness, New Hartford, CT
Anna Murfin is a internationally exhibited British artist. After completing a degree in Ceramics she now lives and works in New England, USA (the irony has not escaped her). She works mainly in clay as a ceramicist with an emphasis on wood, salt and soda pieces fired in the Canton Clay Works noborigama kiln. She works often with unusual objects to create bricolage jewelry that is both unique and unusual , and strays into drawing and painting when the urge takes her. Anna Murfin is currently teaches classes in ceramics, jewelry and inspiration. The A.MUse Emporium of Loveliness is an Emporium of eclectic loveliness and unusual objects of desire for discerning Ladies and Gentlemen. Anna Murfin's wood fired ceramics are whimsical and distinctly unique. Her 'sculptural-functional' work takes everyday tableware and pushes it toward the sculptural while remaining practical to use. All the ceramics are high fired to ensure they are food, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. The Emporiums collection of jewelry and objets d′art hand made by Anna Murfin take inspiration from the beauty of the imperfect, the impermanent and the incomplete. Step into a dream, a memory fragment of understated elegance and beautiful fragility. Each piece of jewelry that she makes has a story and a past, taking inspiration from the broken and using it to make something beautiful and new. Each piece of jewelry is a unique act of beautiful redemption, and there will never be another like it in the world.
