Copper Mountain Designs, Saint George, UT
I am a jeweler, designer, gemcutter, metalsmith, and hand engraver. I grew up on a farm in Colorado and even as a child, was amazed at the beauty of rocks. I would spend hours with a hammer, breaking open rocks to see what treasure hid inside.
My jewelry pieces can contain gemstones or simply be made of metals alone, such as sterling silver, copper, brass or gold. When making a piece containing a gemstone, I start by cutting slabs from the whole gemstone rock. From the slab, I cut and polish a shape with the help of a diamond saw and diamond polishing wheels. Each stone (cabochon) is then either wire-wrapped in sterling wire, or set in the traditional method of soldering components together to make a setting. In the latter case, I start with raw materials of sterling sheet and then assemble and solder (braze) the components together with the use of oxygen/propane torch.
I am pleased to be able to offer each piece of my jewelry as a "one-of-a-kind" item. I hope you will find something to truly cherish.
