Hand made items are a way to invest your talent

Hand made items are a way to invest your talent
For all of us that create with our own hands and our imagination, the pleasure of a finished piece is individual. For me personally, I enjoy seeing the finished piece whether it be a hand smocked or hand crocheted Christening/ Dedication gown or layette, a little girls crocheted pinafore used to dress up any simple outfit, crocheted baby dresses, other clothing, a very intricate crocheted afghan with custom colors.  Each and every hour I spend creating is a pleasure, an accomplishment, an excitement of imagining the buyer taking the treasure home, knowing that this Appalachian grandmother has infused each row, each pattern with love. Hopefully my craft is valued and not considered "a dying art form" as mentioned by one passer by. Each pattern is unique, although not necessarily my creation, it's a pattern I follow, whereas some I create myself. My company Appalachian Handworks is a one woman company located in the Western North Carolina Mountains at my home. I hope to participate in some Arts and Crafts Fairs/ Festivals in 2019. Working on my inventory one beautiful piece at a time.
