Armando's, Onancock, VA
The latest incarnation of Armando Suarez began in 2006 following the sale of his bistro/restaurant of 20 years. He took a year off to travel South America and Europe and the thought of going back to his craftsman days, along with finding an old box of his tools from the trade, fell into place naturally. He has been everything from a bicycle racer, hairdresser, taxi cab driver, gymnast, chef (shall I go on?) and a tiny bit of each of these goes into his work today. Currently he produces hand tooled original designs in his Eastern Shore studio through the incorporation of Mustad horseshoe nails with enamel and raku-fired ceramics, recycled glass, wood, and copper wiring to produce eco-friendly, wearable art.
