I am an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, an island in the Caribbean.  I lived in the Queens section of New York City for over 30 years, and I earned my Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees, majoring in Urban Studies. I also obtained an Interpreter and Translator (Spanish-English) Certificate from The New York University (NYU). I became an activist in my neighborhood and was able to advocate for social justice and human rights. I was the recipient of an award in 2012 for Excellent Community Service from Queens College.  In 2013 I was a candidate for City Council, second place in a six-runners electoral district.

In 2016 I moved to Massachusetts where I started training as a painter.  The Hill Institute was the home where I discovered the profound joy I experience when painting.  I continue learning the trade at the Holyoke Community College (HCC) where drawing and painting continues to be a big part of my life.  My paintings are exhibited at Art and Crafts Fairs and in art galleries.

A Doll for Christmas is my first published book.  My goal is that my books contribute to the children's educational experience; a place where fantasy and history are intertwined to offer young readers, teachers, and parents an opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of my country of origin.
