The Balticon Sunday Short Film Festival (BSSFF) is an annual competitive event hosted by Balticon, the Maryland regional Science Fiction/Fantasy convention produced by the Baltimore Science Fiction Society, Inc. Both audience and director's choice winners are selected in animated, live action, and horror categories.
The Baltimore Science Fictions Society's mission is to support literacy and encourage and support writing, reading and open discussion of science fiction literature, as well as fantasy, horror and non-fiction science-related literature in general. BSFS members range in from Gen Xers to septuagenarians, from unemployed to self-employed, from physicians to cab drivers, but they all have one thing in common — science fiction. BSFS sponsors writers' workshops and competitions, including the Compton Crook Award, the Young Writers Contest and the BSFS Poetry Contest as well as Balticon - the Maryland Regional science fiction convention.
