Handcrafted Metal Art by Bill offers pieces with themes which include items with fish, elk, deer, heron, ducks, mountains, trees and various flowers. All designs are handcrafted and are each one-of-a-kind and utilize recycled material.
As pieces are layered one element behind the other, they impart a 3-D effect upon viewing. The flowers have petals with leaves encircling the stem and if you look closely at the base of the fish you will see sand on the river bottom. Because of the layering, they cast multiple shadows.
The pieces are on stakes or in some cases on metal or wooden bases and they will continue to oxidize to an interesting patina. Heat has been applied to some turning the metal rainbow colors and a copper plate finish has been added to others. Creation of a random speckled effect, particularly effective on the fish, is my most recent innovation. A fixative is applied last to maintain the finish where desired.
Prices vary according to complexity of scenes and time and materials involved. They start at $25 for some and run up to $55-$85, with a few more expensive pieces and some under $25.
Pieces range in size from the 6x6x6 flowers on a 2 1/2 foot stake to 10x8x3 scenes of fish on 3 1/2 foot stakes, to 1 foot square x 5 inch wide and larger pieces on a pedestal to 1 foot square silhouettes of the elk on 5 foot stakes. Other larger pieces are planned and may be commissioned.
