So Many Craft Fairs!!

posted December 13, 2022
It started with my kid's school, taking cash only, arriving 2 hours late with no display to speak of or clue what I was doing. I just wanted to make back my booth fee, and I did, plus a little extra to buy more materials. I signed up for every event that was still open to vendor applications and my schedule was set for the next month and a half with an event at least every Saturday, some lasting 3 straight days!
Have I made a bunch of money? Some, but once you subtract booth fees and the cost of materials it ends up being like half what minimum wage is right now. Will I keep doing it? Probably, just with some tweaks and only for select shows. No more big shows with big booth fees - totally not worth it for a little bracelet vendor selling things for $15 a pop. I can sell just as many per hour at a school craft fair with a booth fee around $100 bucks and not have to pay $35 just to park!
I realize a website is an absolute necessity, and have been building mine without help through bluehost, aka wordpress, which has been an absolute nightmare. If I hadn't already paid for a year of hosting I would be doung 8t through godaddy or someone else because there ate no directions, insteuctions, assistance or resources for building your website and nothing works even when you do figure out what to do.
Well, that's what starting a side business gets you these days, more headaches!
