Hello from Bluegrass Engraving & Leather!

We share our home with two somewhat heavy (okay, fat) dogs, Ernie and Amelia, and three persnickety cats, Sophie, Nergal, and Butters. There's also a large turtle (Tommy) who lives in our pond with the fish, and Porkchop, the groundhog who waddles his chubby cheeks back and forth through a drain pipe in our yard on his daily commute. Our neighbors are also nice enough to let their free-range chickens come visit frequently. If the rooster wakes us up one more time, he may regret ranging over here so frequently. We love designing and creating the items we make, and because we're night owls, we are most creative at night! We crank up the music and get to work! The process for creating a buckle is multi-faceted and definitely not an assembly-line formation. The pieces are cut using a jeweler's saw from raw pieces of metal, carefully trimmed, pieced and soldered, then cleaned and polished, followed by hand engraving, to truly make the buckle one of a kind. Our belts are also "from scratch" - cut from a side of leather, edges beveled, sewn, then soaked in our special blend of oil and hand rubbed to create a finish that is soft and will last for years. We then pair it with a polished brass buckle and leather keeper, or use one of our stock silver-finished and engraved buckle or one of our own custom buckles like those seen in our gallery photos. Neither of these items (buckles and belts) are created through an easy process, but the end result is well worth the effort! We look forward to hearing from you as well as working with you to create that special one-of-a-kind gift or belt that will last you for years to come! |
