C. W. "Charlie" Hobbs was born in 1889 near Elizabethtown, KY. About 1912, he moved his young family to Aledo, IL, where he became well known as a talented left handed fiddle player, playing for barn dances, festivals and contests around western Illinois and eastern Iowa.
