The Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering (CCPMG) has been established to preserve and perpetuate our cowboy legacy. The CCPMG is designed to increase awareness, as well as, preserve the historical and cultural roots of the West, well-grounded in the cowboy way of life; while also providing a venue for working cowboy poets and musicians. A “Gathering” of cowboys and cowgirls is a celebration of western culture, history and folklore with themes of bravery, tragedy, tall tales, practical jokes and the plain predicament of the American cowboy. It is an original sound of the West, projecting images in verse and song while expressing a sensitive anthology of our own western heritage. The program culminates during the first weekend in February when over 40 western poets and musicians present their stories and craft to an audience from throughout Arizona, U.S., as well as, overseas guests.
