Through a resistance system , the electronic cigarette heater for a liquid into steam that the user inhales . Unlike conventional cigarette, the smoke is essentially composed of water vapor , which is why we use the term vapoter or vaper . While conventional cigarettes contain tobacco and many additives, toxic to most , like tar , ammonia , acetone or lead, the electronic cigarette is theoretically less harmful. Although often depends on recipe manufacturers , the inhaled material generally comprises propylene glycol and glycerol ( glycerin vegetable ) , flavors depending on the choice of vapoteur and optionally water , alcohol or nicotine.
