Carrie Eckert Art, Laguna Woods, CA
I am a self taught artist and began working with my hands at a very early age. I have tried my hand in just about every creative art imaginable. I was a ballet dancer for many years. While in ballet I learned the art of making costumes. During rehearsal breaks I picked up knitting and quilting. It was during a visit to Barcelona, Spain, I fell in love with the artwork of Antonio Gaudi and I began to teach myself from books how to do mosaics and mosaic sculptures . I did that for many years and then found mixed media and assemblage art. I started working those mediums until Covid. I always wanted to learn ceramics, So after the world emerged from Covid hibernation, I began working in a ceramic studio in my community. After a few years I began working on a style that I felt was worthy of creating and selling. I still create mixed media, but I throughly enjoy my new found art passion with clay. I have never liked to limit myself in one style of art. It gets boring creating the same thing. I like to learn new things all the time.. I want my work to catch the eyes of the onlooker. I do not like to make boring art. It has to Wow you, which is what I hope to do with my art. My motto is “Art should never be boring”
