The green space the Agriculture Center provides is located at 706 Agriculture Center Dr., Westminster, MD. The property is composed of two contiguous parcels. Parcel one is 13.6 acres and is owned by the Agriculture Center. Parcel two is 7.5 acres and is leased from Carroll County. The Agriculture Center is adjacent to the Carroll County Farm Museum, creating a large green space at the edge of Westminster. The Carroll County Agriculture Center, Inc. was created in March 1954 exclusively for "charitable, educational and scientific purposes." It is still made of the original seven-member groups: Farm Bureau, Young Farmers, Farm Bureau Women, Homemakers (now Family Community Education), the Pomona Grange, 4-H All Stars and 4-H leaders: many of whom are represented here today. The Agriculture Center provides a permanent site for the annual 4-H and Future Farmers of America Fair, the Carroll County Farmer's Market and other agriculturally related activities. In 1968 the Agriculture Center was granted tax-exempt status under the provision of Section 501-c 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. In 1981, the Agriculture Center entered an agreement with the Carroll County Government to provide land for a new Cooperative Extension Service Building. The Cooperative Extension Service is an off-campus branch of the University of Maryland. The Carroll County Agriculture Center provides facilities for youth and adult educational and marketing activities. Some examples are: the 4-H and FFA Fair, Carroll County Farmer's Market, Future Farmers of America, Livestock Sales and Shows, Toy Tractor Show and Sale, the Carroll County Home and Garden Show, Maryland Cooperative Extension classes and workshops, Kennel Clubs and the 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program. The Agriculture Center offers six separate buildings ranging from 2,000 square feet to 52,500 square feet of rentable space for a large variety of events.
